The conversation—part philosophy, part personal journey—offered listeners a look into how Kent’s background in rooftop solar and global travel led him to view Bitcoin mining as humanity’s next great leap in energy independence.

🌍 From Rooftop Solar to Renewable Mining

After earning a computer engineering degree on California’s central coast, he became an executive in the rooftop solar industry—eventually competing with Elon Musk’s cousins at SolarCity. After years in the corporate grind, he took a two-year sabbatical that brought him to over 20 countries. In Peru’s Sacred Valley, he discovered the Bitcoin white paper—and immediately recognized its potential to do for money what solar had done for energy. “It was the first time I realized how broken the system was,” Kent recalled. “Bitcoin solved a problem I was living with every day.”

Eventually settling in Portugal, Kent began evangelizing Bitcoin—but at the time, even he told people mining wasn’t accessible.
